0-60 mph is 2.3 seconds. (note 2.3 is listed by various car review and testing sites. However, Tesla claims 2.5).
The power to deliver such quickness comes from dual motors (front and back) on the test, as well as software optimization named "ludicrous mode".
This version of the car costs 35,000 well equipped and can go as high as 51, 500.
One of the amazing elements about a Tesla is that its motor has a significantly longer performance capability than a gas engine. Gas engines tend to have failures and wear after 70K + miles. Electric cars don't suffer from this issue. Thus a P100D will still produce high-speed performance well past 100K and higher miles.
We expect Elon Musk won't let the 0-60 mph at 2.3 seconds. With constant evolution, we expect the # to drop down to under 2 seconds.
